• Star Wars Battlefront 2 jumped from 135th place in April to the 12th best-selling game in May 2025.
  • The eight-year-old shooter hit a new record of 35,892 concurrent players on Steam and maintains over 20,000 daily players.
  • The revival began after Andor Season 2 ended, and the game now outperforms new releases despite heavy discounting.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 has experienced a remarkable resurgence eight years after its original release. EA’s multiplayer shooter climbed to become America’s 12th highest-grossing title in May 2025, according to Circana data.

The game’s revival follows the conclusion of Andor Season 2 in May. Star Wars fans sought new ways to engage with the franchise, driving thousands back to Battlefront 2’s immersive combat experience.

Record-Breaking Player Numbers Signal Strong Revival

The comeback began modestly with nearly 8,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, momentum built rapidly throughout late spring and early summer. By May 24, the game surpassed its all-time player record on PC.

The peak arrived on June 22 when 35,892 concurrent players joined battles on Steam alone. This represented a significant milestone for the aging shooter, demonstrating sustained interest beyond initial curiosity.

Current data shows the game maintains over 20,000 daily concurrent players on Steam. The consistent player base suggests the revival extends beyond temporary nostalgia.

Sales Performance Outshines New Releases

Battlefront 2’s sales performance in May proved particularly impressive given its discounted pricing. The game ranked 12th in dollar sales despite being heavily discounted compared to full-price new releases.

The achievement becomes more notable when considering the game’s April 2025 ranking of 135th place. This dramatic improvement of 123 positions demonstrates the scale of its comeback.

The shooter even outperformed EA’s F1 25, which debuted as the 15th best-seller in May. This comparison highlights the strength of Battlefront 2’s renewed appeal against contemporary competition.

The sustained player engagement suggests this resurgence may continue beyond the initial wave of returning players. EA has not announced specific plans to capitalize on the renewed interest through content updates or promotional campaigns.
