ArenaNet announced Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity, the sixth major expansion for the popular MMORPG, set to release on October 28, 2025. The expansion introduces the mystical island realm of Castora alongside comprehensive gameplay updates and premium currency packages.

The standard edition launches at $24.99, while premium tiers reach $74.99 with 4,000 Gems included. Guild Wars 2 Gems are the game’s primary virtual currency for cosmetic purchases and account upgrades.

New Elite Specializations and Enhanced Mount System

Visions of Eternity delivers fresh elite specializations for all nine playable professions. Each specialization unlocks unique traits and utility skills, expanding character customization options. Beta testing runs August 20-27 for existing account holders.

Skimmer mounts receive major upgrades through three new mastery lines. These enhancements improve movement, exploration, and combat capabilities across Castora’s land and sea environments. The updated mount system integrates with the expansion’s environmental challenges.

Players gain access to two complete maps at launch. ArenaNet plans to release two additional maps through free updates in 2026, expanding the playable area without additional purchase requirements.

The expansion introduces beachside homestead plots on Castora with a new Layout feature. Players can save and share custom homestead designs, switching between aesthetic configurations. This system works alongside existing homestead locations in Janthir.

Premium currency integration appears throughout the expansion’s monetization structure. The Ultimate Edition includes 4,000 Gems, representing approximately $50 worth of premium currency based on current exchange rates. Additional cosmetic items and convenience features require Gem purchases.

Content Roadmap and Virtual Economy Impact

Three major content updates through 2026 will expand the experience with new maps, raid encounters, and legendary items. The roadmap includes legendary weapons, accessories, and equipment pieces that typically require significant time investment or premium currency shortcuts.

Game Director Josh Davis emphasized the expansion’s focus on player freedom and cross-mode integration. The content delivery model maintains yearly expansion cycles while supporting ongoing virtual economy engagement.

Pre-purchase options range from the $24.99 standard edition to the $74.99 Ultimate Edition. Each tier includes progressively more premium currency and exclusive cosmetic items. The Deluxe Edition at $49.99 provides a middle-ground value with additional character slots and gathering tools.

The storyline centers on investigating Castora’s ley magic corruption while confronting Inquest operations. Players must prevent threats from spreading across Tyria through new PvE content and raid encounters.
