Pi Network Surpasses 7,900 dApps as App Studio Sparks Grassroots Web3 Growth

Pi Network’s new App Studio has seen explosive adoption, with over 7,900 decentralized applications (dApps) launched in weeks. According to a recent announcement by the project, users, known as Pioneers, have created more than 7,600 chatbot apps and 14,100 custom apps using the platform.

Approximately 34,800 individuals have participated in app creation, including unpublished projects. The Pi App Studio was introduced alongside the Pi2Day 2025 Ecosystem Challenge, which attracted over 2.6 million participants. More than 761,000 users completed the challenge, earning digital achievement badges for each platform’s eight steps.

Ecosystem Participation Reaches Millions

A central component of the challenge was the Ecosystem Directory Staking feature, which drew 37.7 million Pi tokens from 16,700 unique stakers. This helped boost visibility and support for over 1,450 apps.

Pi Network is positioning itself as a builder-friendly platform focused on mass accessibility and participation. Through AI tools and no-code functionality, Pioneers can now create dApps across various sectors, such as productivity, education, health, and entertainment, without traditional coding experience.

Apps like Healthy Life, BLACKHOLE, and FlapPi Bird are gaining traction within the ecosystem. These apps reflect a growing demand for real-world utility, with the community actively testing, staking, and promoting the tools they build.

Early Feedback Drives Improvements

Despite strong participation, the App Studio’s initial release faced criticism. Some users expressed dissatisfaction with its limited customization options, especially for non-chatbot apps. Influential community member Woody Lightyear urged the Pi Core Team to introduce advanced development tools and faster updates.

Lightyear’s own app, Healthy Life, was later featured in the official Pi App blog, demonstrating that creators are gaining visibility within the network.

The Pi Core Team has acknowledged the feedback and is reportedly working on upgrades to expand the Studio’s capabilities.

The momentum behind the App Studio highlights Pi Network’s push toward grassroots Web3 development. By lowering the entry barriers with AI and no-code tools, the network enables a wider audience to participate in building the decentralized web.
