• Canton Network added Bitcoin DeFi startup Maestro as its newest validator and brought the total validator count to 247 nodes.
  • Maestro will secure six major dApps on Canton and provide specialized Bitcoin infrastructure for institutional users.
  • Canton recently raised $135 million to bridge traditional finance with blockchain technology through compliant, institutional-grade solutions.

Canton Network announced the addition of Maestro, a prominent Bitcoin DeFi infrastructure startup, to its validator network. This strategic partnership strengthens Canton’s position as a leading institutional blockchain platform while expanding Bitcoin-focused capabilities for traditional financial institutions exploring digital assets.

The move brings Canton’s active validator count to 247 nodes, with Maestro joining as an application-specific validator. Unlike conventional blockchain networks, Canton validators only participate in transactions directly relevant to their operations, creating a more efficient validation system.

Maestro Brings Bitcoin Infrastructure Expertise

Maestro specializes in building customizable blockchain infrastructure, including scalable APIs, data services, and indexing solutions for Bitcoin-native DeFi applications. The company’s technology stack will enhance Canton’s infrastructure, providing institutional-grade tools for capital markets applications.

As an application-specific validator, Maestro will secure six key decentralized applications on Canton: BitWave, The Tie, Proof Group, IntellectEUI, BitSafe, and Hydra X. These platforms cover diverse use cases, including Bitcoin yield generation, tokenized securities, liquidity infrastructure, and compliance reporting.

Canton Network operates 26 “super validators” with expanded responsibilities, including managing atomic settlements through its Global Synchronizer technology. This system enables real-time synchronization across multiple asset classes on a shared, compliant ledger.

$135 Million Funding Drives Traditional Finance Bridge

Canton Network recently secured $135 million in funding from major investors, including DRW Venture Capital and Tradeweb Markets. This capital injection supports the platform’s mission to bridge traditional and digital finance sectors through institutional-grade blockchain infrastructure.

The Layer-1 blockchain platform focuses on institutional privacy, built-in compliance, and programmability. These features address regulatory requirements while enabling financial institutions to explore on-chain asset management and settlement processes.

Canton’s architecture supports secure real-time settlement across multiple asset classes, making it suitable for regulated financial products and data management. The platform’s interoperable design allows traditional institutions to integrate blockchain technology without compromising existing compliance frameworks.

“The infrastructure provided by Maestro will be instrumental in supporting the growing applications in our ecosystem,” stated Melvis Langyintuo, Canton Network’s executive director.

The partnership positions Canton to capitalize on growing institutional interest in Bitcoin DeFi while maintaining regulatory compliance standards. Maestro’s specialized infrastructure will enhance application performance, ensuring capital markets applications operate quickly and efficiently.

This collaboration represents Canton’s continued expansion into Bitcoin-focused financial services, leveraging Maestro’s technical expertise to support institutional adoption of decentralized finance solutions. The addition of a validator strengthens network security while introducing specialized Bitcoin infrastructure capabilities to Canton’s ecosystem.
